We are deep into our Canadian winter now. Every province has felt or is feeling the cold. If we have to believe Nova Scotia’s famous groundhog Shubenacadie Sam, he predicted his forecast of a prolonged winter season Saturday morning. However, all the other groundhogs in Canada predicted an early spring. Only time can tell who is right.
This log is about things to do when it is too cold, slippery or just too horrible to have fun outside. And since we are a tech related company the list we compile is related to internet and technology.
1. Play a videogame
Video games are good for hours of entertainment. Lose yourself in an rich and open world RPG or join a team online and defeat the other team in any competitive game.
2. Edit some videos/photos you have accumulated over the years.
If you are like you probably have lots of footage on your shot on your phone, camera and probably even more lying around in external hard drives. This will be a good opportunity to edit and get rid of footage/photos that you don't need. Freeing up virtual space can be liberating.
3.Write a blog
No matter what you do or who you are. You probably have a story to tell or even some thoughts you just want to put down. This is the perfect opportunity to start with it. Pick any subject you want to write about. Brainstorm for a few minutes and then type away.
4. Watch a movie/tv show on a streaming device
Remember that show that everyone was raving about a few months ago? Now, would be the perfect time to catch up on some shows/movies you wanted to watch but never had the time for.
5. Learn something new
If you are not the type to watch a movie or tv show, take an online course on coursera, bitdegree, duolingo. There are thousands of courses and languages you can learn. Who knows what skill or knowledge might come in handy in the future.
6. Go shopping online
Just because the weather is horrible outside does not mean that you cannot shop. In the comfort of your own home you can shop for anything you want. Lots of online retailers are starting to have delivery within 24 hours.
7. Help people by answering questions/issues
Sites like Quora and communities like Reddit have people always asking for help with almost every topic you can think of. I am sure there are people who you can help or inspire or motivate with your knowledge or experiences. If not you can just go there to bond or with people who might have things in common with you.
8. Make money online
There are opportunities to monetize your time on the internet. How much it pays depends on the skills and demand for your offerings. You can earn money just by filling out questionnaires but if you have certain skills that are in demand you can ask for more. With the internet the sky is the limit.
I hope that you will find plenty of things to do when the weather is too bad outside. If you are looking for reliable and high speed cable internet .
